MY! Music

World Music Day   is also known as Fête de la Musique is a unique annual celebration of music, which takes place on June 21. It is also known as Music Day or Make Music Day. On this day, usually young and amateur musicians are encouraged to perform. World Music Day   allows anyone to play their favourite instruments in neighbourhood parks and open spaces for people to enjoy. Music lovers organize free concerts and other musical events. World Music Day is celebrated to honour the musicians and singers for the gift of musical talent and to celebrate the power of this art.  This day was initiated by French Minister of Art and Culture, Maurice Fleuret, who was a composer, radio producer, music journalist and festival organiser. He with his fellow mate Jack Lange started Fête de la Musique in Paris in 1982, and since then, it spread to many countries. The idea behind celebrating the day is to get musicians, both amateurs and professionals, to come out onto the streets and play their inst

MY! Robots in Kigali

The outbreak of the coronavirus in 2020 created a conventional challenge for the global community – a viral pandemic affecting millions of people. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Accelerator Lab partnered with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation to acquire and deploy five smart anti-epidemic robots for use in two COVID-19 treatment centers and at the Kigali International Airport. The initiative, a first of its kind for UNDP, is a risk mitigation measure to support the national COVID-19 response efforts, especially at a time when there is an increased number of COVID-19 positive patients, and a stretched health system.  The robots will support detection of COVID-19 cases including among returning citizens, test patients, robots have the capacity to screen between 50 to 150 people per minute, deliver food and medication to patient rooms, capture data (video & audio), and notify officers on duty about detected abnormalities for timely response and case management. MY! FATHER

Image
"A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society." Billy Graham.  On this very day, Sunday, June 20, 2021. We take a moment to honor and celebrate all the sons that play the active role of a father figure. For embracing the responsibility of nurturing and raising children, and for the devotion to their family. We want to remind you that your efforts and sacrifices are always recognized and appreciated. God’s desire for every father is to courageously step up and participate actively in the life of his children that he brought forth into this world. And be a visual representation of the character of God in heaven. As the head of the family, he should lead his family on the right path by example. Protect his family, provide for their needs and discipline his children when they go astray. A father is responsible for molding his children to work with integrity and to treat other people with respect and love. Te

MY! LIBERIA

Liberia also known as the "Land of the Free" a tropical country in West Africa with a spectacular coastline at the North Atlantic Ocean. The country was known for some time as the Pepper Coast and later as the Grain Coast. It is surrounded by Sierra Leone, Guinea and Côte d’Ivoire. English is the official language of the country but has over 20 indigenous spoken languages, representing the numerous ethnic groups who make up more than 95% of the population. The country's capital and largest city is Monrovia. Liberia began as a settlement of the American Colonization Society (ACS), who believed black people would face better chances for freedom and prosperity in Africa than in the United States. The country declared its independence on July 26, 1847. The U.S. did not recognize Liberia's independence until February 5, 1862, during the American Civil War. Between January 7, 1822, and the outbreak of the American Civil War in 1861, more than 15,000 freed and free-born peo

MY! ENVIRONMENT DURING THE PANDEMIC

Image
After the lockdown was announced in many countries, there was evidently less traveling done by people, whether it was by their own cars or by trains and flights. Even industries are closed due to the pandemic and are now allowed to function which has given some positive relief to the air quality. The pollution in the air has dropped significantly as this marked the decline in nitrous oxide emission.  Climate Change has been headline news for quite some time, and the irreversible effects that humans have imposed on the environment have been highlighted over and over again. While it all still holds true, this pandemic has shown us that when the world comes together and slows down the chains of production and consumption, we can have massive positive outcomes on nature. And most importantly, nature  can  bounce back. Mother Nature is showing us just how powerful she truly is. Here are some ways in which the Earth has bounced back during this global quarantine: The Himalaya’s are visible f
